Merino - natural intelligence

Decorated: our high performance line Merino Competition

Sport requires individuality. In order to trigger maximum performance in each muscle group a variety of stimuli are needed. Every body part reacts differently. Some areas are more likely to feel cold, others sweat easily, some demand agility, others need to show stability. Merino competition is as individual as a second skin. The garment, weighing only 190 grammes, incorporates a highly breathable mesh design around our bodys' so called Heat Spot areas. The more cold sensitive areas are trengthened with insulating Merino 240 material. These are the areas which, especially in winter need to be kept warm in order to avoid  a drop in performance. Maximum elasticity and robustness require long lasting materials. ORTOVOX uses a process that weaves the garment in a ripple like structure, similar to the way the bark of a tree would form, guaranteeing durability. Circular knitting technology is applied in the production of all competition garments which means there are no annoying or rubbing seams (except the sleeves are sewn on).
Merino Competition is the winner of the well  sought after European Ski Award and the OutDoor Industry Award. Two independent juries agreed in all design-, quality- and function wise aspects – the clothing style of the year 2009!
The men's range offer a long sleeve with zip and long pants, all in sporty and muted colours.

100% perfect fit - 100% functionality - 100% competition

Off into the second phase for ORTOVOX Merino supersoft. Our success has proved us right. No other range within the Merino sports underwear  provides a fibre combination as soft as that of supersoft. How is this possible? The finer the fibre the less noticeable it is on the skin. ORTOVOX has developed a technique in which coarse fibres are singled out and only the finest fibres are woven into a thread. However, it is the final combination with Lenzing Modal which turns the yarn into an incredibly skin friendly material. Lenzing Modal is a natural fibre derived from sustainably farmed beech and the cellulose extracted from these trees normally finds its way into the fashion capitals of Europe. When it came to testing the product, it was not  just independent testers that decided on Merino  Supersoft  being the softest product on the market but  also the jury of the Eco Design award. In 2008, based on its sustainable production as well as eco conscious and considerate use of raw materials, the Merino Supersoft  by ORTOVOX was nominated the ECO Design Award. A celebration merging the most functional material with the softest fibre around. Alongside long and short sleeves and long pants, ORTOVOX has now added  a long sleeve garment with zipper to its range. Colours have been adjusted to meet market demands and now comprise the following:  black raven, blue reef, lilac breeze, red berry and green jade. Available from autumn 2009 onwards in all specialist sport shops.
This is the warmest ORTOVOX range of all times. Product designer Christoph Kirsch focused on maximum functionality and ultimate temperature performance. A keen winter paraglider himself he knows how icy cold the air temperature can be. However, feeling cold will  be out of the question for him in the future. Thanks to double sided Merino fleece, the garment style is suited for all kinds of winter sport. Stretchy inserts underneath the arms guarantee unrestricted movement at all times, even when paragliding. Three cosy warm pockets are great to warm up your hands but also offer plenty of room for all kinds of accessories. Merino 320 can be used as a top or mid layer and is available as a jacket or vest for both men and women. The new ORTOVOX labelling on the side and arm/ shoulder area gives a refreshing look to the colour range, consisting of black raven, grey oyster and red chilli. Stylish sports wear for the cold season!
